The Select Template Window

(Radio Management - Radio View)

HGDefinitionMob%26Port.jpg

The Select Template window allows you to select a template for the selected radio(s). See also: Manage Templates.

DotBlue.png The majority of a radio’s codeplug feature-values are contained within a Radio Management template; templates can be applicable to multiple radios, which is why template-based programming is very efficient. The more generic codeplug feature-values (less radio-specific) are contained within Radio Management templates. Template codeplug values are modified from the main CPS user-interface (see Manage Templates). Template codeplug values have a view-only status in the Radio Management Client's (RMC) many views. Non-template radio-specific codeplug values such as Radio IDs and IP Addresses are maintained on a per codeplug basis in the RMC's three edit-capable views.

1.

From the Radio Management Client's Radio View, highlight the appropriate radio-codeplug record / row (multiple radio record / rows may be selected by holding down the CTRL key); then from the Actions Button choose "Select Template".

Alternately, you can right-click directly on the highlighted record / row(s), and from the popup menu choose "Select Template".

2.

In this window, select the appropriate template, then click the OK button. DotYellow.png Only templates with compatible FLASHcodes and Model Numbers are shown as available selections (see also CPS FLASHcode); "compatible FLASHcodes" refers to the target radio(s) that is selecting the new (source) template having a FLASHcode that is equal-to or greater-than the FLASHcode of the source template. “Greater-than” refers to the source template’s "In Use“” FLASHcode Feature Set being a sub-set of the target radio’s Purchased FLASHcode Feature Set.

  • The selected template is then applied to the selected radio(s).

INCLUDED FIELDS:

DEFINITIONS:

Template

Allows you to view-only the name of each template.

DotGreen.png Templates can be Renamed, see Manage Templates.

Model Number

Allows you to view-only the radio model number of each template.

DotGreen.png Templates can only be shared by radios with the same model number.

Template Firmware Version

Allows you to view-only the firmware version for each template.

DotGreen.png Because firmware information is stored in the radio, when the CPS reads a codeplug file (not from a radio), "N/A" (not applicable) appears in this field.

DotGreen.png Because a Radio Management template can apply to multiple radios (see Manage Templates), the template used for a "Write" job may not have been originally read from the current radio, therefore this Template Firmware Version may vary from this radio's actual Firmware Version at the time of the job.

Template Codeplug Version

Allows you to view-only the version number of each template / codeplug.

DotGreen.png Because a Radio Management template can apply to multiple radios (see Manage Templates), the template used for a "Write" job may not have been originally read from the current radio, therefore this Template Codeplug Version may vary from this radio's actual Codeplug Version at the time of the job.

Creation Date

Allows you to view-only the date and time that each template is created.

DotGreen.png Whenever a template is edited and saved in the main CPS interface, a new version of the template is created.

In Use (Radios)

Allows you to view-only how many managed radios are using each template.
